This summer, I decided that I would take a few weeks to venture across the country. Having 2 brothers who live nearer the east coast than the west provided a great excuse to head that direction! My older sister decided she needed some time away from day-to-day life and trials, too, so she came with me for the first week of my USA tour.
We left Utah on June 29 and took 4 days to travel to Corydon, Indiana, staying in Denver, Kansas City, and St. Louis along the way. It was a lot of fun to chat together for hours and hours, uninterrupted- usually there are various distractions around us- so this was a rare treat, reminiscent of our days growing up together when we shared a room and hung out all the time. We had a lot of fun stopping at random places so she could get out and walk and I could feel like I am "exploring America".
Some of the highlights so far were some fun signs along the interstate in Kansas, such as "The World's Largest Prairie Dog" and "Live Rattlesnakes", our tours of Liberty Jail and the Independence Visitor's Center in Missouri, the St. Louis Gateway Arch (an experience that stretched into about 4 hours because of all the lines and waiting), and a tour through Marengo Cave in southern Indiana. After reaching Corydon, we met up with my parents and my brother and his family. My niece had her 8th birthday this week, and will be baptized on Sunday. This is just the beginning of my adventure!
