Ode to the frustrating weight loss cycle

Funny moment from my week. But first, here is the background:
My students love the song, "The Cat Came Back". We sing it most often along with a CD of children's songs performed by Fred Penner (he is great, if you haven't heard any of his stuff). The song is about a cat who keeps returning, no matter what they do, such as putting him in a sleigh to the North Pole, a spaceship, and a time machine. The end of the song is a version of "Hit the Road, Jack" which is, of course, "Hit the Road, Cat!"

Every morning, our "helper" gets to choose a song to sing out of our song cup, and this particular day, the helper read the song as "The FAT came back". I began to laugh, along with the students who "got it" and a few who probably laughed just because other people were laughing. I realized that the lyrics, unfortunately, are very appropriate for many of us who have struggled our whole lives to feel "thin" like the world tells us we should be. So here is my version of the chorus of "The Cat Came Back", with only a couple of words substituted, along with my own original verse appropriate to the change.

There once was a woman who had enough of fat.
No carbs or sweets passed her lips and she bought a yoga mat.
She tried and she tried to get that fat away
She joined a gym and Nutrisystem, hundreds of dollars she would pay....
But....

"The FAT came back, the very next day
The FAT came back, she thought he was a goner
But the FAT came back, he just wouldn't stay away!"

Hit the road, FAT, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road, FAT, and don't you come back no more!
